Steve Baranoff is a nature photographer who resides in both Richmond, VA and Austin, Texas. He was born in Montreal, Canada, but grew up in California, Missouri, and Texas where his father worked as a print maker, painter, and university art professor. Steve worked as an electrical engineer for 39 years before retiring at the end of 2008.
Steve’s interest in wild birds began in his childhood days in Southern California before his family moved to Texas in 1960. More recently he combined his interests in photography, sea kayaking, and birding into a single and focused avocation: wild bird photography. Steve has photographed birds in many states including Texas and Virginia.
His vision is to capture quality images of birds in their natural habitat and to employ these images to create artistic and tasteful prints that are displayed as bird art. Steve processes and prints all his bird photographs, using chromic inks and specialized papers and canvas that provide archival quality prints with rich colors and fine details.
Steve is a member of the Travis Audubon Society, Richmond Audubon Society, the North America Nature Photographers Association (NANPA), and the Richmond Focus Group Camera Club (FGCC).
